Training Contracts
At Lees Solicitors LLP, the development of our people is paramount. We aim to give our trainees a rich breadth of experience and the possibility to come into contact with different areas of law first-hand and to witness various working styles. When you join us, you will see, and be part of, a true team. Our principals and senior staff will further your development by giving you on-the-job insight and advice on a daily basis, ensuring that you learn the practical skills and hands-on approach required of an excellent solicitor. You will see the bigger picture immediately through exposure to clients and to complex and motivating files. Being a smaller firm, everything is easily accessible, meaning that all the support and help you need is right there whenever you need it.
We are looking for law and non-law graduates who are hard-working, dynamic, creative and bright. Communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. At Lees, we pride ourselves in a friendly and team-driven approach. Our trainees come from a broad range of backgrounds and we are looking for true personalities to fit into this varied environment.
Our retention rate on qualification for trainees is extremely high. When you join Lees Solicitors LLP, we train you as a future solicitor, not simply as a trainee on a two year contract, and we hope to create a collaborative working relationship that will last for many years. We also believe in work/life balance. When you are at work, we expect you to be focused and to give 100%. And then we would like you to switch off, go home and enjoy your evening.
Please send your curriculum vitae and covering letter to Joanna Kingston-Davies by e-mail at recruitment@lees.co.uk stating 'Training Contract' in the subject box, or by post.
Testimonial from two of our current trainee solicitors Tom Fazackerley:
"I was very keen to work for an established Wirral firm with an excellent reputation and Lees Solicitors seemed to tick every box! Immediately from my interview I was confident that I had made the right decision. Lees Solicitors was a friendly and welcoming firm yet was professional and ambitious.
I have been a Trainee with Lees for over 3 months now and am thoroughly enjoying my time with the firm. Lees is a growing firm which places a great emphasis on quality of service and client care and offers a wide range of legal services catering for both private and commercial clients. Lees encourages a healthy work and life balance and there are regular social events where you get to meet other members of the firm.
My first seat has been in the Business and Services Department where I have been working in residential and commercial conveyancing. The principals at Lees are extremely approachable and have an open door policy which makes life as a Trainee that bit easier. From the moment I joined the department I have felt involved and a part of the team and have experienced a wide variety of work ranging from sale and purchases, to claims for adverse possession and matrimonial transfers. I have been invited to a number of networking events, attended department meetings and regularly meet with clients which means the workload is varied. Trainees at Lees are definitely not chained to the Photocopier!
Ultimately Lees has a particularly high retention rate amongst Trainees because they take a real interest in you the individual and provide for an excellent environment in which to undertake your Training Contract!"
Kate Bonner:
"I first and foremost chose Lees because of its local reputation, that of offering excellent legal advice and services to its clients. On this basis I knew that the on the job training would be second to none. I did work experience here prior to commencing the LPC which gave me a true insight into life at Lees. The people are hardworking, focused and experienced and the areas of law are varied and in some cases specialised.
I have just finished my first seat in the Business and Property Services Department working on a variety of residential and commercial property matters. The experience was varied from day to day residential sales and purchases to commercial site acquisitions on behalf of builders.
I am presently working in the Family Department. I have dealt with emergency applications to Court on behalf of a Grandmother, childcare disputes representing either parent, divorce, Ancillary Relief and care cases. My day is extremely varied, in the morning I could be working on a high net worth divorce case and in the afternoon I could be working on a care case.
The opportunity to learn first hand at Lees is excellent, I immediately feel part of the fee earning team and all fee earners are approachable, running an open door policy for any advice. The work life balance is excellent. I am a member of the social committee at Lees which organises activities and events outside of work. This gives the opportunity to socialise with all departments and at all levels, from Principals through to support staff.
I am thoroughly enjoying my training contract and love the level of responsibility that I am given as well as the support that I receive from all levels here at Lees."
